In a public procurement process, Karlovac officials have selected IRMO as a coordinator for the development of Karlovac City’s Cultural Strategy. The Cultural Development Strategy for Karlovac City (2014-2024) laid the base for the encouraging and enhancing activities that contribute to the city’s cultural vitality. The city’s 2021-2030 Development Plan includes culture and cultural heritage management as key areas with defined growth needs and potential. Alongside the five public cultural institutions, there are a lot of NGOs that are active in culture. Karlovac is a city with a significant number of cultural goods listed in the Registry of Cultural Heritage of the Republic of Croatia. The city budget funds various cultural activities such as programs, events, projects for the management of cultural goods, revitalization of the cultural-historical complex Zvijezda (old city core), as well as attracting new tourists. In accordance with the above, a strategic document for the upcoming period will be developed and IRMO’s Center for Sustainable Development through Culture (CSDC) will coordinate activities.
